A commercial vacuum sealer earns its keep by doing one thing a home machine cannot: sealing bag after bag, for an hour or a whole shift, without overheating, losing vacuum or leaking at the seal. For restaurants, butcher shops, caterers and serious hunters, that usually means a chamber sealer with an oil pump. For very wide or long items, it can mean a fan-cooled, heavy-duty external sealer.
We compared current models from both camps on pump, seal bar length, chamber size, duty cycle, electrical draw and weight. Here are seven picks, from compact NSF-certified chambers to a 1.5 HP machine for production work, plus what to check before you put one in a licensed kitchen.
Quick picks

Liquids: chamber sealers seal chilled soups and marinades directly; external sealers need liquids frozen first. Oil pumps suit long sessions but need oil changes; dry pumps need none.
The best commercial vacuum sealers, reviewed
1. VacMaster VP230: Best Overall
Who it's for: restaurants, food trucks, meal-prep businesses and high-volume home processors who need a true commercial chamber on a standard counter.
The VP230 is the sweet spot of VacMaster's tabletop range. VacMaster lists a heavy-duty 1/2 HP oil pump, a 12.25 in. seal bar for bags up to 12 x 15 in., a 12.5 x 15 x 5 in. chamber, and a double seal. The listing says it is built for prolonged and continuous operation. A pressure indicator lets you stop the vacuum early for delicate items, and you can stop and seal at any time. It seals 3 mil pouches up to 7 mil Mylar, and it draws just 4 amps on a standard 110 V outlet, per WebstaurantStore.
It weighs 89 lb and the oil pump needs regular checks and changes. Retailer reviews often mention that the included oil runs out at setup, so order a quart of vacuum pump oil with the machine. We compare it with VacMaster's smaller VP210 and VP215 in our VacMaster chamber sealer guide.
Pros
- 1/2 HP oil pump for continuous use
- 12.25 in. bar, 12 x 15 in. bags, 5 in. chamber
- Standard 110 V, 4 A draw
- Seals Mylar up to 7 mil
Cons
- 89 lb
- Oil maintenance
- Premium price tier

2. VacMaster VP320: Best High-Volume
Who it's for: butcher shops, caterers, commissaries and processors who seal large cuts or several pouches per cycle.
The VP320 steps up to a bigger oil pump and a 16 in. seal bar. WebstaurantStore lists a 1.5 HP pump (the Amazon listing title says 1/2 HP, so confirm with the seller), a 16.75 x 18 x 7 in. stainless chamber that fits a 16 x 20 in. pouch, a domed lid that adds height, and a 20 to 40 second cycle. Two or three 8 x 12 in. pouches fit side by side on the bar, which multiplies throughput compared with a 12 in. machine.
Plan the installation: it draws 13 amps (1,430 W) at 110 V, the shipping weight is 180 lb, and the footprint is 20 x 22.25 x 19 in. For a twin-bar version, VacMaster's VP321 adds two 17 in. seal bars, but it was out of stock at WebstaurantStore when we checked.
Pros
- 1.5 HP oil pump, per WebstaurantStore
- 16 in. bar and a 7 in. deep chamber
- Fast 20 to 40 second cycle
Cons
- 13 A draw; needs its own circuit
- 180 lb shipping weight
- Commercial price tier

3. Waring Commercial WCV300: Best Compact NSF Chamber
Who it's for: restaurant kitchens that need NSF-certified equipment but have limited counter space.
Waring Commercial, the foodservice arm of Conair, lists the WCV300 as NSF certified, which matters if your health inspector checks equipment certification. The 2 gallon stainless chamber measures 11.8 x 12.6 x 3.19 in., the 11 in. heat seal bar double-seals, and a 380 W motor drives the vacuum. Touchpad controls are easy to wipe down, and it has a vacuum marinating function. The box includes 50 one-quart and 50 two-quart bags, and Waring offers a limited one-year warranty.
At 33.3 lb it is far easier to move than a VacMaster, but its 3.19 in. chamber height and 11 in. bar limit it to portion packs. Waring's listing does not state the pump type, so ask the seller if oil maintenance matters to you.
Pros
- NSF certified
- Compact stainless chamber
- Double seal and marinate function
Cons
- 3.19 in. chamber height
- Pump type not listed
- 11 in. bar limits bag width

4. Avid Armor USV32: Best Light-Commercial Dry Pump
Who it's for: cottage food producers, farmers market vendors, small delis and hunters who seal a lot but want zero oil upkeep.
The USV32 is the most capable machine in Avid Armor's line. It has a stainless steel chamber (11.5 x 12 x 3.5 in.), an 11.5 in. dual-wire seal bar for pouches up to 11 x 13 in., an arched tempered glass lid, a dry rocker pump with no oil or scheduled service, and a vacuum timer from 20 to 99 seconds. Avid Armor's Amazon listing says it is built for high-volume daily use, and the box includes a spare seal bar and lid gasket.
It is not a VacMaster-class machine for all-day production, and it needs 22.5 in. of lid clearance. For a small business that seals a few hundred pouches a week, it is far lighter at 26.4 lb and simpler to own.
Pros
- No oil maintenance
- Stainless chamber and dual-wire bar
- Spare seal bar and gasket included
Cons
- Not built for all-day production
- 22.5 in. lid clearance
- 1-year warranty

5. VEVOR DZ-260C: Best Budget Oil-Pump Chamber
Who it's for: startups and side businesses that need an oil pump and a 12 in. bar but cannot stretch to VacMaster prices yet.
VEVOR lists a 180 W oil pump with a pumping speed of up to 6.5 m³/h, vacuum up to -100 kPa, a 12 in. seal bar with a wide 10 mm seal, and a 14 x 13.4 x 2.9 in. chamber. It can also vacuum and seal large embossed bags outside the chamber, a handy option for whole fish. Canister, Marinate and Seal Only modes are included.
It is a new listing with no long-term record and no NSF certification stated, and the chamber is shallow. We would treat it as a capable starter machine, not a primary production sealer.
Pros
- Oil pump at a lower price tier
- 12 in. bar with a 10 mm seal
- External vacuum mode
Cons
- No track record yet
- 2.9 in. chamber height
- About 60 lb

6. Weston Pro-2300: Best Heavy-Duty External
Who it's for: processors, anglers and hunters who seal long and wide items that will not fit any tabletop chamber.
Weston's Pro-2300 (current model 65-0220-W) is a stainless external sealer with a fan-cooled motor. Its Amazon listing gives 1,020 W of power and an extra-wide, 5 mm seal bar that takes bags up to 15 in. across. Weston rated the double-piston pump of the earlier 65-0201 version at up to 28 inHg, with one-touch automatic sealing and a manual mode for delicate foods.
As an external sealer, it needs embossed bags and cannot seal liquids. At about 22 lb (the figure listed for the earlier 65-0201), it still needs a permanent spot.
Pros
- Fan-cooled for continuous use
- Bags up to 15 in. wide
- 5 mm seal; 1,020 W
Cons
- Embossed bags only
- Not for liquids
- Large footprint

7. LEM MaxVac 1000: Best Value Heavy-Duty External
Who it's for: hunters and home processors who want production-level stamina from an external sealer, backed by a long warranty.
LEM is a hunting and game-processing brand, and the MaxVac 1000 (model 1088B) is built for processing days. LEM's product page lists a 14 in. seal bar with a 5 mm wide seal, a 24 inHg, 880 W pump, and a rating of 1,000 consecutive seals (up to 10 hours); the Amazon listing credits that run to a built-in cooling fan. Controls cover auto, manual vacuum, manual seal and stop, the lid locks with one hand, and a removable roll holder and cutter come with an 8 in. x 25 ft starter roll. LEM backs it with a five-year factory warranty and stocks replacement parts.
Its 24 inHg rating is lower than the 28 inHg Weston gave the earlier Pro-2300, and like any external sealer it needs embossed bags. See our LEM vacuum sealer review for the brand's full lineup.
Pros
- Rated for up to 1,000 continuous seals
- 14 in. bar with a 5 mm seal
- Five-year warranty
Cons
- Lower vacuum rating than the Weston
- Embossed bags only
- 17.22 lb and 18.55 in. long

How to choose a commercial vacuum sealer
Chamber or heavy-duty external?
For most food businesses, a chamber sealer is the right tool. It seals soups, sauces and marinades, gives consistent vacuum across a batch, and uses cheaper smooth pouches. Choose a heavy-duty external sealer when items are longer or wider than any chamber (whole fish, briskets, large game roasts) or when portability matters.
Oil or dry pump
Oil rotary pumps (VacMaster VP230 and VP320, VEVOR DZ-260C) are the standard for long shifts: they pull deep vacuum quickly and stay cool. They need regular oil checks and changes, more often when you seal wet products. Dry pumps (Avid Armor USV32) skip the oil but are designed for lighter daily volume. Our oil pump vs dry pump guide goes deeper.
Seal bar length and number of bars
Seal bar length decides how many pouches you can seal per cycle. A 16 in. bar fits two 8 in. pouches side by side; a 12 in. bar fits one 10 or 12 in. pouch. Industrial machines like VacMaster's VP321 add a second bar for even more throughput.
Chamber depth
Tabletop commercial chambers run about 5 in. deep (VP230) to 7 in. (VP320). Shallow 3 in. chambers (WCV300, USV32, DZ-260C) limit you to flat portion packs. Filler plates make a deep chamber efficient for thin items.
Electrical and placement
Check the amp draw before delivery day. The VP230 runs on 4 A at 110 V; the VP320 draws 13 A, which calls for a dedicated circuit. Heavy chamber machines (89 to 180 lb) need a sturdy, level counter near an outlet, ideally with room to pull the lid fully open.
Certification and service
NSF certification (stated for Waring's WCV300 and for Hamilton Beach Commercial's PrimaVac pouches) can matter for inspections. Parts availability matters more over the machine's life: VacMaster sells seal bar assemblies and seal tape by model, and LEM says it carries replacement parts for current and past products.
Bags and running costs
A business seals thousands of pouches a year, so the cost per bag matters more than the machine price. Buy smooth chamber pouches by the case in the two or three sizes you use most. See our chamber vacuum sealer bags guide for thickness and sizing.
Food-safety rules for vacuum packing in a business
Reduced-oxygen packaging carries a real botulism risk if handled wrong. FDA's Fish and Fishery Products Hazards and Controls Guidance (Chapter 13) states that Clostridium botulinum type E and non-proteolytic types B and F can grow and form toxin at 38 °F (3.3 °C), and recommends that vacuum-packed raw fish whose spores have not been destroyed be kept below 38 °F or frozen. It also notes that retail cases at 45 to 50 °F are not uncommon. For other foods, USDA FSIS calls for refrigeration at 40 °F or below. The 2022 FDA Food Code, adopted in some form by most state and local health departments, requires a HACCP plan for reduced-oxygen packaging of time/temperature-controlled foods (section 3-502.12, with an exemption for food removed from the package within 48 hours) and a variance for reduced-oxygen packaging that does not meet those criteria (section 3-502.11). Talk to your health department before you sell vacuum-packed food.
How we chose
We did not test these machines. We researched current US listings from VacMaster, Waring Commercial, Avid Armor, VEVOR, Weston and LEM, compared their published pump, seal bar, chamber and electrical specs using manufacturer listings and foodservice retailer spec tables, checked stock status, and looked at recurring themes in owner feedback. We favored brands with replacement parts and commercial support.
FAQ
What makes a vacuum sealer commercial grade?
A pump and motor built for continuous use (an oil rotary pump on chamber models or a fan-cooled motor on external models), a stainless body, a long or double seal bar, and serviceable parts. Commercial kitchens may also need NSF certification.
Is a chamber or external vacuum sealer better for a business?
Chamber sealers suit most food businesses: they seal liquids, cost less per bag and give consistent vacuum across a batch. A heavy-duty external sealer makes sense for very long or wide items, such as whole fish, and for hunters who want 15 in. bags. Our best vacuum sealers for hunters guide covers that use.
What is the difference between a commercial and an industrial vacuum sealer?
The terms overlap. Industrial usually means floor-standing or double-chamber machines with multiple long seal bars and larger pumps, built for production lines. Commercial covers tabletop chamber sealers like the VacMaster VP230 and VP320 used in restaurants and butcher shops.
Do I need a special outlet for a commercial vacuum sealer?
Check the amp draw. The VacMaster VP230 is listed at 4 amps on 110 V, while the VP320 draws 13 amps, so give larger machines their own 15 or 20 amp circuit rather than sharing one with other appliances.
Do restaurants need permission to vacuum pack food?
Often, yes. The 2022 FDA Food Code, which most state and local health departments adopt in some form, requires a HACCP plan for reduced-oxygen packaging of time/temperature-controlled foods and a variance when a process falls outside its criteria (sections 3-502.11 and 3-502.12). Ask your local health department before you vacuum pack food for sale.
Verdict
For most food businesses, the VacMaster VP230 is the best commercial vacuum sealer: a 1/2 HP oil pump, a 12.25 in. bar and a 5 in. chamber on a standard outlet. Step up to the VP320 for 16 in. bags and higher throughput, choose the Waring WCV300 if NSF certification and counter space drive the decision, and pick the Weston Pro-2300 or LEM MaxVac 1000 when your items are too big for any chamber. For more home-oriented chamber picks, see our best chamber vacuum sealers.
