NutriChef sells a lot of kitchen gadgets at low prices, and its vacuum sealers follow the pattern: compact, simple, and usually bundled with bags, a hose and sometimes a wine stopper. The classic PKVS18BK has been on the market for years. The question most buyers have is whether a NutriChef vacuum sealer will handle what they need, or whether it is worth paying a little more.

Our view: a NutriChef works for light, mostly dry sealing, but the model matters a lot. The entry PKVS18BK uses narrow bags and has two modes; the PKVS90BK is a different class of machine with a double seal, pulse, marinate and roll storage. This review compares the current models on NutriChef's site, sets them against GERYON (the brand people cross-shop), and points to the alternative worth the upgrade.

We did not test these sealers. Specs come from NutriChef's product pages and GERYON's user manual.

The NutriChef vacuum sealers, reviewed

1. NutriChef PKVS90BK: Best NutriChef Overall

Who it's for: households that seal every week and want features usually found a tier higher.

The PKVS90BK is the NutriChef to buy if you are buying one. NutriChef lists five sealing functions (Seal, Vac Seal, Canister, Pulse Vac and Marinate), selectable Standard or Soft pressure, Dry or Moist food settings, and a double sealing option, which is what you want for freezer bags and damp food. It has a built-in cutter and roll storage, a sealing-time countdown display, 0.8 bar of suction, an 11.81 in. maximum sealing width, and an aluminum handle on an ABS body. The box includes five bags, a roll and a canister hose. A silver version (PKVS90STS) is also sold.

The gaps are in the paperwork. NutriChef does not list wattage, weight or a warranty term on the product page, and it does not publish a duty cycle, so pace yourself on long sessions. At 16.14 x 7.08 x 5.71 in., it is closer to full-size than the PKVS18BK.

Pros

  • Double seal plus Dry/Moist settings
  • Pulse vacuum and marinate
  • Built-in cutter and roll storage

Cons

  • Warranty, wattage and weight not listed
  • No published duty cycle
  • Larger than NutriChef's entry models

2. NutriChef PKVS25BK: Best with a Roll Cutter

Who it's for: occasional users who want to cut bags to length without stepping up to a larger machine.

The PKVS25BK keeps the compact body and adds an integrated roll cutter for custom bag sizes. NutriChef lists a 110 W suction element at 12 L/min (-0.6 bar), two modes (Gentle and Normal vacuum), an ABS and stainless steel body, and a 14.4 x 5.5 x 3.0 in. footprint. The kit includes five 7.8 x 11.8 in. bags, a 7.8 x 78.7 in. roll and a short air hose.

Gentle mode is useful for bread, berries and soft fish. What it does not list is a moist setting or a double seal, so juicy meat needs chilling first. NutriChef does not state the maximum bag width; the included bags are 7.8 in., so plan on 8 in. rolls.

Pros

  • Roll cutter in a compact body
  • Gentle mode for soft foods
  • Starter bags and roll included

Cons

  • No moist mode or double seal listed
  • Maximum bag width not stated
  • Warranty not stated

3. NutriChef PKVS18BK: Best Budget

Who it's for: people who seal small portions now and then and want the simplest possible machine.

The PKVS18BK is the NutriChef most people have seen. NutriChef lists two selectable modes (Dry and Moist), a 110 W suction element at 12 L/min, LED touch controls and a slim 14.1 x 6.0 x 3.0 in. ABS body. The kit includes a wine stopper cork, an air suction hose, five medium bags (7.8 x 11.8 in.) and a 7.8 x 79 in. roll. NutriChef's page listed it as in stock in October 2026.

The key limitation is bag width. NutriChef's own Q&A on the page says 11 in. bags will not seal because the bag must fit fully inside the machine, so you are limited to roughly 8 in. bags. That is fine for burgers, chicken breasts and cheese, and too narrow for roasts or racks of ribs. There is no cutter or roll storage.

Pros

  • Dry and Moist modes
  • Small enough for a drawer
  • Wine stopper and hose included

Cons

  • Narrow bags only (11 in. will not seal)
  • No cutter or roll storage
  • Warranty not stated

What about NutriChef's chamber sealer?

NutriChef also lists the PKVS70STS chamber sealer: an 8 L chamber (13.78 x 11.42 x 5.5 in.), a 350 W motor, 0.9 bar of vacuum, Low/Medium/High strength settings, and ten 11 x 15.7 in. bags in the box. It was marked sold out on NutriChef's site in October 2026, and the page does not say whether the pump is oil or dry, or list a seal bar length or weight. If you want a chamber machine, our best chamber vacuum sealers list covers models with complete specs.

NutriChef vs GERYON

GERYON is the brand most often compared with NutriChef, and the E2900-MS is its long-running model. GERYON's user manual lists two sealing modes (Dry and Moist), soft-touch digital buttons, LED indicator lights, and compatibility with GERYON or other brands' bags and rolls up to 12 in. wide. That width beats the PKVS18BK and PKVS25BK. We could not find an official GERYON spec page, so power, vacuum rating and warranty terms are not confirmed here.

How to choose between them:

  • Need 11 to 12 in. bags in a basic machine? The GERYON E2900-MS, or step up to the NutriChef PKVS90BK.
  • Want a double seal, pulse and roll storage? The PKVS90BK is the only one of these with all three.
  • Seal only small portions? The PKVS18BK is enough.

The step-up alternative

Nesco VS-12 Deluxe: Best Step-Up Alternative

Who it's for: people who seal meat weekly and want reliable moist sealing and published specs.

The VS-12 sits a price tier above NutriChef but publishes everything NutriChef leaves out. Nesco lists a 130 W, 25.1 inHg double vacuum pump, Dry, Moist and Double seal settings, Normal and Gentle pressure, pulse vacuum, roll storage with a cutter, a 15.75 x 8 x 4.5 in. body, about 6 lb, and a 1-year warranty. Its manual rates it for one cycle every two minutes. Read our Nesco VS-12 Deluxe review for the details.

Pros

  • Published vacuum rating and duty cycle
  • Moist mode and double seal
  • Roll storage and cutter

Cons

  • Higher price tier
  • 1-year warranty

Buying guide: choosing a NutriChef (or any budget) vacuum sealer

Check the bag width first

This is where budget sealers differ most. The PKVS18BK takes about 8 in. bags; the PKVS90BK, GERYON E2900-MS and Nesco VS-12 take 11 to 12 in. If you buy family packs or roasts, you want the wider bar. Our vacuum sealer rolls guide lists rolls by width.

Look for a double seal and moist mode

For freezer bags and juicy meat, a double seal and a moist setting reduce failed seals. Among NutriChef models, only the PKVS90BK lists both.

Pulse or gentle control

Soft food (bread, berries, fish) gets crushed under full vacuum. The PKVS25BK's Gentle mode and the PKVS90BK's Soft setting and Pulse Vac help.

Roll storage and cutter

A built-in cutter means custom bags without scissors and less wasted film. The PKVS25BK has a cutter; the PKVS90BK has a cutter and roll storage.

Who should skip NutriChef altogether

If you process game, buy whole primals, or seal more than a couple dozen bags in one go, a budget sealer without a published duty cycle is the wrong tool. The same goes for soups, stocks and marinades: no external sealer, NutriChef or otherwise, handles liquids well. For those jobs, budget for a fan-cooled external sealer or a chamber machine rather than replacing a small sealer every season. And if you mostly reseal cheese and leftovers in the fridge, a handheld pump with zip valve bags may be more convenient than any countertop model.

Duty cycle and warranty

None of the NutriChef pages list a duty cycle or warranty term. If you plan to seal more than a dozen bags at a time, a machine with a published rating is the safer buy. Compare options in our best vacuum sealers roundup, or, for small kitchens, our compact vacuum sealer picks. Our Bonsenkitchen vacuum sealer review covers the other big budget brand.

Food safety reminder

A vacuum seal slows freezer burn and spoilage but does not make perishable food shelf-stable. Clemson Cooperative Extension says vacuum packaging does not allow you to store foods at room temperature. Refrigerate sealed perishables at 40 °F or below and use them within the normal fridge window, per USDA FSIS, or freeze them at 0 °F, where FSIS says food stays safe indefinitely and storage times are about quality.

How we chose

We did not test NutriChef or GERYON sealers. We used NutriChef's product pages for modes, dimensions, included accessories and stock status, GERYON's E2900-MS user manual for its modes and bag width, and Nesco's published specs for the alternative. NutriChef's pages do not list weights or warranty terms, and we could not find an official GERYON spec page, so we left those details out rather than repeat third-party figures.

FAQ

Is the NutriChef vacuum sealer any good?

For light use with dry foods and occasional freezer bags, it is a workable budget sealer. The PKVS18BK is small and simple but uses narrow 7.8 in. bags and has only dry and moist modes. The PKVS90BK adds a double seal, pulse vacuum, marinate, a cutter and roll storage, which makes it the better buy for regular sealing.

What bags does the NutriChef PKVS18BK use?

The included bags and roll are 7.8 in. wide, and NutriChef's own Q&A says 11 in. wide bags will not seal because the bag must fit inside the machine. Buy 8 in. or narrower embossed rolls for it. The PKVS90BK takes bags up to 11.81 in.

What is the difference between NutriChef and Geryon vacuum sealers?

They are similar budget external sealers. GERYON's E2900-MS manual lists Dry and Moist modes and bags up to 12 in. wide. NutriChef's PKVS18BK takes narrower bags, while the PKVS90BK adds a double seal, pulse vacuum and roll storage. Neither brand publishes a duty cycle.

Does NutriChef make a chamber vacuum sealer?

Yes, the PKVS70STS, with an 8 L chamber and a 350 W motor, but it was listed as sold out on NutriChef's site in October 2026 and NutriChef does not state the pump type. For a chamber machine, established models from Avid Armor, VacMaster or Anova are easier to buy and support.

What warranty does NutriChef offer on vacuum sealers?

NutriChef's product pages link to a warranty policy and offer extended protection through product registration, but they do not state a term on the sealer pages we read. Check the listing and register the product after purchase.

Verdict

If you want a NutriChef vacuum sealer, buy the PKVS90BK: its double seal, pulse vacuum, marinate mode and roll storage make it far more capable than the entry models. The PKVS18BK is fine for small, occasional jobs if you accept 8 in. bags. If you seal meat every week, the Nesco VS-12 Deluxe is the better long-term buy.
